Sorry for the long delay in posting. We had internet at times during our vacation but it was hard to break away from the fun to post something. Then at night; we hit the bunks early.
Great vacation. We learned a lot about the boat and had a great shake down trip.
We left Thursday morning at 0400 and caught the tide going out. Crossed the Strait of Juan de Fuca and hit the SYC Friday Harbor outstation around 11am. Great weather and no seasickness. No wind however.
Swam, cleaned the waterline and cooked out in Friday Harbor and did some shopping. Love Friday Harbor.
Got up and spent the morning puttering around the town again and picking up some last minute supplies. Shoved off for Bedwell Canada around noon. Motored the whole way there. Time flew however cause Max and I placed another 120V outlet in his cabin during our motor there. If you are just motoring, might as well get some stuff done.
BBQing in Bedwell with the connector panel up. Weird smoke patterns. |
Checked into customs with no problem and got a slip for the night and played for hours in the heated swimming pool. Great time.
In the morning, we shoved off and started up the Trincomali Channel and headed for the Gabriola Passage.
We actually got to sail all day with a SSE wind blowing at around 10-15 knots. We gybed back and forth up the channel till we had to motor through the passage. As it was getting late, we decided to pull into Silva Bay and anchor for the night. Samey was jonesing for a playground and we found one at Page's Resort and Marina. I don't have a picture of the playground but it consisted of one of those 3 foot high slides from Walmart. She was happier than hell.

On the 19th we woke up to blustery winds out of the SE at 10-15 knots. Forecasted to 20-25 knots in the afternoon. We took off like a scalded hound and started across the Strait of Georgia towards Garden Bay in Pender Harbor. Poor Jen got seasick and the baby thought she was coughing when actually throwing up. "Momma!! STOP COUGHING!" Funny stuff. All three of the kids seemed to do OK. We pulled into the SYC Garden Bay outstation thoroughly whipped. Felt good to tie the boat to the dock and just relax. We showered, did some laundry, hit the playground by the IGA grocery store and made dinner. In the morning we headed back to the playground for a bit till the tide was favorable and then motored to Cortes Bay where we were to meet up with Scott and his family.
